Slidin' Along
While turning the shovel, this little bugger reared its head. A common Garter Snake also called a Garden Snake is the most widely dispersed snake in North America and is the only snake found in Alaska. Garter Snakes are a common site in gardens across America and are considered a friend of many gardeners as they are harmless to humans and help keep our friend Earl from being a nuisance. This one wasn't so big and at first mistakened it for an abnormally oversized earth worm because of its color. After playing with it for a while trying to get it camera ready, I let our friend go in some freshly upturned soil so he could have earl for lunch.
