Gettin' Buggy

My first garden friend or pest. What shall we call it? It looks like an Earl but is in fact a Japanese Beetle in the larvae stage, commonly referred to as a garden grub. For now it's a friend burrowing through my soil helping loosen the earth, but once those plants come in and I see Earl chomping on my leafy greens, he's as good as squashed. A great natural deterrent for combating grubs is to use diatomaceous earth a natural organic compound that can be sprinkled along the base of plants. Don't use too much cause they can kill your earth worms too.
